Hanging out with celebs like Rosie O'Donnell and Emeril was fun, but Elmo is moving on to bigger and better things, leaving Hollywood behind to work for the government.
The popular and ticklish Sesame Street muppet is now starring in a number of Public Service Announcements that aim to teach kids good hygiene practices like hand-washing and proper sneezing in an effort to prevent the spread of illnesses like Swine Flu as the new school year begins. The announcements will also feature Elmo's fellow Sesame Street star, Gordon, and are part of a collaboration between the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Education and the Sesame Street Workshop.
