David Duchovny, star of the hit show “Californication,” will be back to work soon. According to People magazine, Duchovny has successfully concluded rehab for sex addiction. Duchovny was first vaulted to fame as Agent Fox Mulder on The X-Files, a role which he reprised in the movie, “The X-Files: I Want to Believe” last summer.
A growing number of medical experts believe that sexual addiction is a real condition, which affects as many as 16 million American men and women! Many people ask, “What’s the difference between a sexual addiction and a healthy sexual appetite?”
According to a leading sexual health site, Sex Health Guru, sex addicts have an unusually intense sex drive, or even an obsession with sex. Sex tends to dominate the sex addict’s life, making it difficult to sustain healthy relationships. Ironically, the character that Duchovny plays on “Californication” (Hank Moody) has an unusually intense sex drive, and sex tends to dominate the character’s life, making it difficult for him to sustain healthy relationships.
Unfortunately, fictional portrayals like this one make light of a serious addiction – one which has been likened by some to alcoholism. So feel free to laugh at Hank Moody, but please respect the fact that David Duchovny has an illness.
Does anyone else see Anna Faris as the perfect actress for the sexual therapist they eventually bring in to treat Hank Moody?
